Background
rak was originally formed by husband and wife team, Roger and Ann Kay, in 1984 to provide plant inspection services to the oil & gas and petrochemical industries. Today, we have inspection engineers at almost every refinery and petrochemical site in the UK.
In 2007, the company was acquired by current directors, Duncan Jarrett and Ian Johnston. Their strategy for growth was to build upon the early success of the company through further growth in plant inspection and diversification into other associated services.
Both were well placed to do this having a wealth of experience in multi-discipline inspection, maintenance and project delivery for ICI and subsequently utilities companies Enron and Sembcorp.
The new directors recruited an experienced senior management team and specialist discipline engineers in order to support the diversification into other sectors. The company has subsequently been successful in winning new contracts and now boasts inspection teams serving civil and structural facilities and lifting gear and equipment. More recent growth has seen the company’s client base expand further and today it also serves clients in power generation, utilities, industrial gases and chemicals sectors.
